  • What is an EPA? | FDQ

Discover what an EPA is. What is an EPA? An End-point Assessment (EPA) is the final stage of an apprenticeship It’s designed to ensure apprentices are fully competent and ready for their chosen career. End-point Assessment An End-point Assessment (EPA) is the final stage of an apprenticeship, where an apprentice proves the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they've gained throughout their training. It’s designed to ensure they’re fully competent and ready for their chosen career. How does an EPA work? At FDQ, we ensure that the EPA process is transparent and supportive. Once an EPA is booked, our EPA Managers conduct a pre-assessment visit—either on-site or virtually—to outline the entire process. This includes providing support materials such as sample questions and apprentice guides to aid in preparation. The assessment itself typically comprises three components. These are designed to evaluate the apprentice's proficiency in real-world scenarios. Results are delivered within eight weeks, and if a resit is necessary, we provide detailed feedback to guide improvement. Why choose FDQ? FDQ stands out as the only food and drink industry specialist awarding and End-point Assessment organisation (EPAO) in the UK. With over 25 years of experience, we understand the unique needs of food industry employers and training providers. Our team of highly skilled independent examiners, managers, and moderators possess extensive food and drink industry experience, ensuring that assessments are both fair and relevant. We pride ourselves on our flexible approach, accommodating the 24/7 nature of the food and drink industry by scheduling assessments around your operations. From the moment you book an EPA with us, our dedicated team is available to answer any questions and provide ongoing support. An Awarding Organisation that suits you!
