A Thriving Food and Drink Nation
Wales has a proud reputation for producing high-quality food and drink,
with internationally recognised businesses spanning food manufacturing,
brewing, dairy, meat processing, bakery and hospitality. As the industry
continues to grow, developing a skilled workforce is essential to supporting
innovation, productivity and future success.
Supporting the Food and Drink Industry in Wales
The food and drink industry is a priority sector in Wales, contributing significantly to the Welsh economy and providing employment across food manufacturing, brewing, bakery, hospitality and associated industries. FDQ supports employers, training providers and stakeholders by developing and awarding industry-recognised qualifications that help maintain high standards, develop workforce skills and support career progression across the sector.
Our qualifications underpin every pathway within the Welsh Food and Drink Apprenticeship Framework, making FDQ the only awarding organisation operating in Wales able to provide qualifications across the full range of food and drink apprenticeship pathways.
We work closely with employers and sector partners to ensure our qualifications continue to meet the evolving needs of industry and support skills development throughout Wales.
Supporting the Welsh Food and Drink Sector
FDQ works with a wide range of organisations across Wales to support skills development and workforce growth, including employers, training providers and key sector stakeholders such as MEDR, the Food & Drink Federation (FDF) and other industry partners.
By working closely with the sector, we ensure our qualifications remain relevant to employers and continue to support the future skills needs of Wales' food and drink industry.
