Level 3 Food and Drink Advanced Process Operator

End-point Assessment

Advanced operators work in food manufacturing, often with supervisory responsibility for food production lines. They have an in-depth knowledge of food production, quality systems and health and safety in the food industry. Their knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques will be used for improving productivity. An Advanced Process Operator may progress to more senior technical or management roles.

The Food and Drink Advanced Process Operator End-point Assessment (EPA) consists of three elements:

  • A written knowledge test answered through a combination of multiple choice questions and extended answer questions

  • A workplace based practical observation of skills

  • A presentation and interview, lasting approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes in total

The assessments must be taken in this order and apprentices must pass each component before taking the next. The end-point assessment must be completed within twelve weeks of the EPA gateway.

The standard charge for EPA is 15-20% of the IfATE maximum funding rate, to view FDQ's Fee's Policy click here
